"In some ways, I think travel is about learning how to see, learning how to pay attention. It's an alarm clock in some ways, and it's a jumpstart to putting our senses on the setting where they're universally receptive. I think theoretically we could do that at our homes, and yet somehow, surrounded by familiarity and the routine we know too well, our eyes tend to close and we don't notice the things that are so wondrous for a visitor. But as soon as we physically start moving we awaken to the beauties around us." --Pico Iyer

Happy Birthday Australian Traveller

May your paths in life be in the right direction!

~chuckle~ I admit I find it weird wishing my blog a happy birthday - I tend to not dwell too much on birthdays in reality.... however....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AUSTRALIAN TRAVELLER.NET

It has been an interesting year. When I think back to 365 days ago I was fresh off the plane from England, looking for something to do when an ad beckoned to me offering '$40 a week to write for Orble'. Thought I would give it a try and a few days later I was up and running. Later 'Flashes of Memories' sprung up and eventually the very sparingly used blog of 'The Art of Photography' followed.

I don`t think my adsense has yet reached $40 but I have found a bunch of really good virtual people. Ideas that seem wacky to those I rub shoulders with daily are sometimes met with understanding nods in this virtual world. Fingers which cannot stumble over words in reality manage to type out some sort of coherence to which people sometimes connect with on these ever changing pages, and I feel like I have added on a whole new branch to myself through all the 'things' that I have learnt from everyone else.

So on this day I wish you all well. I wish you much love. I thank you for your time spent reading my mindless rambles. And I raise my glass to all your success in the year ahead. May it be a good one for all.

I tried shoving cake and champers down the phone line but it did nothing more than make a mess on my carpet - don`t worry I`ll lick it all up and have your share!

Cheers! Let`s have a party people.... I dragged out all the dodgy dance tunes I could think of ~hehehehe~

EVERYBODY GET UP AND DANCE NOW.....

...and to you Ash, you little reveller, you...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO.

To echo other's here, it's been a great trip and I've enjoyed every last minute of it and look forward to the road ahead together.

I just have to also echo the appreciation for your wording here...

So well said...and it was fun to do the ' Y ' again too *chuckle*

Happy Birthday.

I like your poetry.

Just disregard what I'm about to write. I'm over being serious with people.

If you weren't female I'd marry you but I've found women don't make very good husbands.

Happy Birthday to you!

You have something delightful going on here, Ash! Here's to many more years of your probing investigations into the world around you. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy our virtual company, and I look forward to much more in the way of festivities, D'n'Ms, and general excitement!

I will drink (a red creaming soda) to you today if I can!~

Cheers,
Epiphanie

Hi David

Thanks.... I appreciate your help on the poetry, your advice is always welcomed.

ah what a proposition - imagine how our children would turn out?

Fear not, I don`t reckon even the best of the lion tamer professionals would be able to tame you!
