Hervey Bay Activities

So there you are, sitting on the beach, a fine glass of red in one hand, feet playing with the soft warm sand and the sun setting over the ocean and all of a sudden you get the urge for some excitement. So what does this little backpackers town have to offer?
Although we never did any of these activities while we were there this time we have done some of them before and I would highly recommend the splash out on the cash for them.
A few weeks ago I was up here and were lucky enough to go out Whale Watching. This only happens July-October so you have to pick your time carefully. I have been Whale Watching further down south on the Queensland coast but never had I seen Whales like I did here. They were jumping right out the water in front of our boat, mothers slapping the water with their long, elegant flippers. Also included in this trip is a cruise along the shallow waters of the coast of Fraser Island. If you are lucky enough you may see a dingo on the shore or some dolphins bobbing in the water.
Fraser Island...well what trip to Queensland is complete without a stop here. The largest sand island in the world and home to the purest breed of Dingo, it is full of breath taking surprises. The island acts like a huge filter, sucking in the water rained down by Mother Nature and spending hundreds of years seeping through the layers of sand, so that by the time it comes out at the surface it is some of the purest, freshest water you will find. Secret lakes hidden amongst giant trees lie at the end of bumpy adventure trails - there is just so much to see and go here you will never get bored!
Fancy a little excitement? The thrill of the air whipping through your hair as you race over crystal clear ocean water? Why not hire a jet ski for a few hours and head over to Fraser Island that way? The Esplanade, Hervey Bay has many travel agents who will happily point you in the direction of where you need to go to or check out the Aquavue Website for details at http://www.hervey.com.au/Aquavue/default.htm
Another spectacular sight at Hervey Bay is the Urangan Pier. Over 800m out to sea the pier used to have a railway system which would be used to unload the cargo from passing ships. The shallow waters in this bay would not allow any ships to dock nearby so this was the next best thing. Nowadays the Pier has been shortened from 1124m to 868m and there is no sign of the railway. Instead you can take a stroll along its wooden floors and watch as the fishermen try their luck and sting rays fly gracefully through the water underneath you.

Travel is so important I think, my friends and I are always doing travel email updates so this is perfect to share with a broader range of people. Hopefully it will give some would-be visitors some ideas of what to see and do while they are in the area.
Thanks for stopping by
