"In some ways, I think travel is about learning how to see, learning how to pay attention. It's an alarm clock in some ways, and it's a jumpstart to putting our senses on the setting where they're universally receptive. I think theoretically we could do that at our homes, and yet somehow, surrounded by familiarity and the routine we know too well, our eyes tend to close and we don't notice the things that are so wondrous for a visitor. But as soon as we physically start moving we awaken to the beauties around us." --Pico Iyer

Another day in Sydney

January 1st 2007 21:12
It is time to get up early and hit the city streets once again. The markets are already in full swing at Kings Cross, get lost in the noise and people as you search for a gift or two.

There is also a fountain here that looks like the head of a dandelion - stand by the waters and make a wish...

It is now time to head over to "The Rocks" - the old Sydney. Taking a wander through the cobbled streets and it feels like you have taken a step back in time. A great place to stop for a drink in one of the old pubs or take a browse through a gallery or two. Of course no trip to Sydney is complete without a trip under the Harbour Bridge to see the Opera House. This is beautiful any time of the day.

It has been a very busy day and the sun is once again setting so what better place to watch the city come alive than from the revolving restaurant of Centrepoint Tower? This gives you a birds eye view of the city.

Another end to a hectic Sydney day...

Hi Ash,
I love Sydney. It's a great city. I like The Rocks area and I had a beautiful, romantic dinner at Centrepoint Tower once (although I had trouble finding my way back to my table after going to the toilet because of the revolving room LOL). There are some great pics there.

Hi Candice
Lol - I know exactly what you mean! And because it can get so full in there it makes it even more difficult.
There is so much to see and do in Sydney - lots of contrast.
Thanks for stopping by
Happy travels

Hi Ash

I've been to Sydney once and I thought it was great! I didn't make it to the revolving tower either - maybe next time? I can't wait to get back there...

Greetings Jay
Yep its quite an interesting experience - I am terrified of heights so the wine came in rather handy! If you have been up the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth you will get a good idea of the view (minus the glass floor though)...pretty spectacular!
Have a good one

HI Ash,

Lived on the North Side there overlooking the harbour for 13 years... great place ... have fond memories .. loved the rocks too...

now that I'm older?

great place to visit... briefly... that's all... too much noise, heat, pollution and traffic!

glad I don't live there anymore...

great city though... hope you enjoyed your trip.

Lilla...

Hi Lilla,
Yeah its a great city, very hectic though. For a traveller it is a definite must do, but once you have been there a few times you tend to have enough of it. I only go there to visit my brother now and stay outside the city where life is a little calmer.
*cheers* to good times
Ash
