Travel comforts

Has anyone seen that ad of the guy who is looking to buy a car and only settles for the one that has the cup holder? I have just come from a whirlwind trip overseas so I`m actually not sure if it was an Aussie ad or not. Anyways I HEAR THE MAN! I`m a tin drinking kind of girl. These plastic buddy bottles just do not do it for me - for some reason the drink tastes better out of a can. So it is a hot sunny day, you are hurtling along the motorway taking in all the lovely scenery and you do not have a cup holder in your car, so you either have to stick the can between your legs to hold on to it or glug the drink down all in one go and have such a gas build up that you do not enjoy it any way. So, without going out to buy a new car that comes with a cup holder already in it, what do you do? As a budget traveller I am always on the look out for little bargains and found this one the other day in The Warehouse which has solved all my can holding problems. A little clip on device that hooks into the slats of the aircon vents! Imagine that! Now you have a cup holder AND your drink is kept cool from the air coming out of the aircon. Plus it only cost $3 so what more could you ask for!?!
I also found this little gadget on the net. This bag is made from wetsuit material and keeps your food cool or warm. It also comes in various colours for those more fashionable travellers amongst us.
Picture yourself in the great outdoors, watching the most perfect sun set, sipping away on a cool chardy when suddenly you hear the call of nature. And you are nowhere near a toilet. In fact you are nowhere near anything and the idea of heading into the bush at this time of day does not thrill you either, having to squat down with the grass tickling your...leg. Well what about the Bumper Dumper? This baby hooks on to the back bumper of your car and hey presto you have a nice comfy toilet at your disposal (ha ha!) It even comes with a toilet roll holder - what more could you ask for?
Camping is so over rated right? Not when you have this to sleep in. The Tree Tent is the design of German Dre Wapenaar. You can read his story and see all his various other tent designs but this one stuck out at me. To sum it up he invented this one for Tree Activists who spend many a night sleeping in trees in order to save forests from being cut down. This Tree Tent looks quite uncomfortable from the outside but rather roomy on the inside. Some very good advice he gives - hang the tree tent close to the ground!

Wow, some nifty little gadgets there! I have to say, the 'bumper dumper' idea appeals more than going to some fly ridden, stinky hole in the ground that you find after several hours of driving. Had to laugh at it though.
I love my car's cup holders. Forget good engines and tyres. Give me a cup holder any day!

Flashes of memories
Isn`t it great? Especially for us gals! You would have to make sure that you parked AWAY from any prying eyes though - would be a little embarassing if you were on there, taking in the view around you and a car came around the corner.
A cup holder is all I want too. Nothing worse than spilling your drink - especially when you are wearing light coloured pants!
Happy travels
