"In some ways, I think travel is about learning how to see, learning how to pay attention. It's an alarm clock in some ways, and it's a jumpstart to putting our senses on the setting where they're universally receptive. I think theoretically we could do that at our homes, and yet somehow, surrounded by familiarity and the routine we know too well, our eyes tend to close and we don't notice the things that are so wondrous for a visitor. But as soon as we physically start moving we awaken to the beauties around us." --Pico Iyer

Wicked Campers

November 13th 2006 09:12
Any traveller coming to Australia has to check out Wicked Campers. They have a variety of kombi`s painted with various sayings, pictures, patterns etc to make your trip that much more memorable. Check out their website at www.wickedcampers.com.au
And if you are heading to New Zealand or the UK you will find these little beauties there too. It`s much better than the boring rental car that you get from all the normal dealers or sitting on a bus all day long. Plus the added advantage of having your own wheels is that you can stop and start and go wherever your road takes you. There is nothing worse that being stuck on a bus or train and seeing that perfect photo opportunity going whizzing by and there is nothing you can do to go back to it. GO WICKED CAMPERS!

Any any traveller travelling in a kombi should bring a gun, apparently, and should avoid parking in any deserted carparks.

Hi Adrian,
Well I`m not sure driving around with a gun would be a wise thing, perhaps a baseball bat or something of sorts to provide protection - too much can go wrong with guns!!!
Yeah as with anything when you travel you have to be a little careful about where you go and what you do. It wouldn`t be wise to shack up for the night somewhere that could house would be criminals.
Be safe!
